What my Soul Wants Me To Know…January 13, 2020

Light.jpg

This week’s card (Denise Soul Coaching Oracle cards) is Light. Affirmation…My light radiates through my life and the world around me.

Looking at this card, I see a blue sky, green hill, golden sun and a lady on a ladder reaching for the sun.

My soul wants me to know that it is my time to shine while remembering who I am and where I came from and never to be ashamed.

The light also tells me to look into the darkness at things stored and unused, things no longer wanted or needed, things that no longer serve my highest and best good. Clutter, whether it be physical, emotional, mental or spiritual if it doesn’t serve me then I need to let it go so that my light can shine.

My husband tells me that I need to “lighten up” and not be so serious. Guess I need to listen.

Winter?…January 11, 2020

As I sit here today, the temperature reads 70 degrees and I have the door open as a fresh breeze blows through the Cabin while I compose my next story for the spring issue of Mystic Rebel Magazine. Last year at this time a wintry mix of snow and sleet was preparing to spread across our region during the afternoon and evening hours on January 11th. Big difference from then and now. Personally, I prefer today’s weather over last year’s.

Have a Blessed and Magickal Weekend Everyone.

What My Soul Wants Me To Know Today…Jan 10, 2020

Adenture Oracle Card

(Denise Linn’s Soul Coaching Oracle Deck)

Today I drew the Adventure card, with the affirmation… Wonderful new experiences fill my life.

When I look at the card I see a blazing yellow sun with beaming rays sending its warmth and energy out into the world. I see green rolling hills with a path that never ends.

All I need to do to begin my adventure is to put my foot on the path and take the first step toward the adventure(s) that await me.

The first step can feel risky but without risk life can be dull and boring. Dull and boring leads to stagnation. Stagnation leads to deterioration and eventually death.

Adventure does not have to be grand or scary, but you do have to look for it and take that first step toward it. Adventure can be as small and as simple as taking a different route to work or saying hi to a stranger. That simple hi could lead to a new friend or a life long love.

Small adventures can lead to larger, grander adventures. Take the risk. Become an adventurer. Seek at least one adventure per day. No matter how small or grand the adventure is enjoy it to the fullest.

What my Soul Wants Me To Know…Jan 9, 2020

awakening card

To become more attuned to what my Soul wants me to know in 2020, I am going to be working with Denise Linn’s Soul Coaching Oracle cards.

Today I drew the Awakening Card…

In the card I see a blue sky and white, fluffy clouds, a blue butterfly, a yellow flower, green hills and a smiling lady wearing a blue dress in a happy pose. The blue color of the sky, dress and butterfly are happy colors for me, the lady’s smile and pose tell me that she is happy.

The affirmation for the card is: I am joyously awake and aware and ready for anything.
What a great affirmation for the beginning of a new year.

This card wants me to know that it is time for me to come out of my fog and really wake up and be aware of what is happening around me…life (relationships, family, financial, hopes, dreams) career, spiritual walk.

To fully awaken my dormant, sluggish potential and power I need to “shake the tree”, wake up and take ownership of what is rightfully mine… my potential and my power.

Connecting with my spiritual vibrations and my higher self is the path I will need to take as my soul and spirit awaken.

The Gingerbread Boy… October 31, 2019

I have given you parts of the story over the month of October. Now for the edited complete story. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.

This story was written for and is dedicated to my beautiful, magickal granddaughter, Brianna Riley.

Nestled secluded in the deep magickal forest among the tall, deep, green pine trees sits a tiny picturesque cottage. The birds and animals of the forest come often to visit the cottage and the beautiful witch, Brianna who lives here. Brianna always has treats and stories for her feathered and furry visitors.

Brianna longs for a family of her own with lots and lots of children. No, Brianna does not want the children so that she can fatten and eat them. She is a kind and good witch. She loves children’s cute smiling faces, their sweet musical voices and laughter. Most of all Brianna loves the pureness of a child’s heart.

Summer was coming to an end. Brianna had been extra busy gathering herbs, toadstools and other items that she would need for her magick and spells during the cool autumn and cold winter months ahead. Brianna always thought of her forest friends and gathered extra during her forages to help them also through the barren months.
Now, it was time to treat herself for all the hard work she had done.

Gathering her favorite broom, Riley, her cloak and hat Brianna chanted the magick words that would allow her to fly through the night unseen. Guided by the light of the full moon Brianna giggled as she encouraged Riley to fly higher and higher.

Over the trees they flew, the stars shimmering above as Brianna and Riley flew to the town far, far away. A place were people, tall buildings, cars, bright lights and unfamiliar noises filled the night. Brianna had been to town before. She was filled with excitement, not fear. She knew exactly where she wanted to go…

Honed in on the destination Riley maneuvers Brianna through the starlit skies toward a tall, historic looking building. The architecture of the building is breath taking. It is beautiful. The contents inside the walls of the beautiful building is the treasure that Brianna longs to get her hands on.

As Riley and Brianna are closing in on the building Brianna begins to chant words that are familiar to Riley. Riley knows these words will magickly open the window through which he and Brianna will enter.

Riley stands in the corner next to the door ready to warn Brianna of intruders should any appear. Brianna claps her hands and dances with joy as she swirls amongst the shelves and shelves of treasures before her. Will she be able to pick just one?

Closing her eyes, she runs her fingers over the treasures while chanting eeny, meeny, miny, moe, a rhyme often used by children as a way of selecting someone or something. There under her pointed finger is her treasure…Pinocchio.

A fairy tale story of a wooden marionette, named Pinocchio, come to life. Geppetto, a woodcarver dreamed of having his own boy. He decided to make his dream come true by carving a boy from wood. Brianna’s heart pounds. She too wants her own child, but she is not a woodcarver and cannot carve a child from wood. She sighs and a tear slips from her eye.

Another story catches her eye, The Gingerbread Boy. Sitting on a bench she begins to read. The ideas in Brianna’s mind begin to swirl faster and faster. She can hardly wait to get home. Brianna’s musical chanting soon has her holding magickal reproductions of the treasured books in her hand as she flies out the ornate library window.

Back at the cottage settled in front of a warm, crackling fire sipping a steaming cup of special witches’ brew, Brianna reads her treasures once again. Gazing into the glowing fire Brianna decides that she will make her own boy just like Geppetto did.

Brianna does not want a hard, wooden boy. She wants a boy that will be sweet and soft….

Brianna jumps up and grabs her cauldron. In goes the ingredients that will bring her dream to life.

Gingerbread:
• 3 cups all-purpose flour
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
• 3/4 teaspoon ground ginger
• 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
• 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1/4 teaspoon freshly milled black pepper
• 8 tablespoons (1 stick) unsalted butter, at room temperature
• 1/4 cup vegetable shortening, at room temperature
• 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
• 2/3 cup unsulfured molasses
• 1 large egg
• Sprinkles of love
• Sprinkles of Magick
• Royal Icing (recipe follows)
ROYAL ICING
1-pound (4 1/2 cups) confectioners’ sugar
2- tablespoons dried egg-white powder
6- tablespoons water

Following each ingredient Brianna sprinkles in generous amounts of love and magick. Stirring in a deosil direction sparks of magick bounce from the spoon into the dough, flowing not only from Brianna’s hand but from her heart. The ingredients are whisked to perfection. The inside of the cauldron begins to glow.

Brianna rolls and pats the gingerbread dough into shape and puts it into the oven. When the timer dings Brianna opens the oven door. There on the baking sheet is the cutest, sweetest, smelling gingerbread boy ever.
Removing the gingerbread boy from the oven Brianna sets the pan on the counter to cool. As the gingerbread boy cools, the love and magick begins to swirl bringing him to life.

The gingerbread boy pinches himself to see if he is truly alive. He is. A horrible thought enters his mind. A witch has brought him to life only to eat him. It is well known that witches like to eat little children. Oh no, not this gingerbread boy he gasps. He is alive, and he will not allow himself to be eaten.

The gingerbread boy jumps off the pan onto Brianna’s broom Riley. Riley is startled. In his startled state Riley flies right past Brianna with the gingerbread boy hanging on tight.
Through the open window they fly. Fly, fly you can’t catch me, I am the gingerbread boy and I can fly away from you.

Brianna jumps onto her spare broom but it is old and worn and does not fly as fast as Riley. In the distance she sees Riley and the gingerbread boy barely miss hitting Mr. Bear’s head.

Mr. Bear sniffs and grunts and grabs for the gingerbread boy. I smell the sweet, spicy goodness of a gingerbread boy. Fly to me gingerbread boy, I want to eat you.
No, no shouts the gingerbread boy. I am not for eating. I flew away from the witch and I can fly away from you shouts the gingerbread boy as he leaves Mr. Bear still sniffing and grunting.

Close, but not close enough to catch the gingerbread boy, Brianna sees him fly over Mr. Deer. The gingerbread boy barely misses being caught by Mr. Deer’s huge antlers. Mr. Deer sniffs and snorts. I smell the sweet, spicy goodness of a gingerbread boy. Fly to me gingerbread boy, I want to eat you.

No, no shouts the gingerbread boy. I am not for eating. I flew away from the witch and Mr. Bear and I can fly away from you shouts the gingerbread boy as he leaves Mr. Deer still sniffing and snorting.

Still just behind the gingerbread boy, Brianna sees him fly next to Mrs. Eagle. Spying the gingerbread boy Mrs. Eagle screeches as she smells the sweet, spicy goodness of a gingerbread boy and reaches out her talons. Wouldn’t he make a tasty treat for her tiny eaglets. Fly to me gingerbread boy so my tiny eaglets can eat you.

No, no shouts the gingerbread boy. I am not for eating. I flew away from the witch, Mr. Bear and Mr. Deer and I can fly away from you shouts the gingerbread boy as he leaves Mrs. Eagle still screeching.

Not able to catch up to the gingerbread boy Brianna cast a magickal spell on Riley. Riley and the gingerbread boy spiral to the ground landing next to a huge ant hill.
Oh, No! We all know that ants love sweet, spicy gingerbread boys. The gingerbread boy frantically looks around as the ants come marching up the broomstick toward him.

Closer, closer, closer and closer the ants come. The gingerbread boy is trembling. He shuts his eyes and prepares himself to be eaten.
Suddenly something grabs him, lifting him. He feels the wind as though he is flying again. Is he escaping the ants only to be eaten by Mrs. Eagle’s eaglets? To scared to open his eyes he waits and waits.

Suddenly he feels the earth beneath his feet. Still trembling he opens his eyes. There in front of him stands Brianna. She has finally caught him. He trembles even more as he waits once again to be eaten.

Gingerbread boy, why did you fly away from me Brianna ask? I do not want to eat you. I only want to love you…my sweet son.

Mabon-Autumn Equinox…September 23, 2019

Image result for mabon gif

Like the middle child, Mabon is now getting it’s time in the spotlight. The second of three Harvest Festivals, Mabon is enjoyed in the course of the Autumn Equinox. This is also the time of year recognized as the Witches Thanksgiving.

Mabon is a time for us to look back over the blessings of the months prior and forward to the third harvest yet to come. A time to accept the blessings of the vegetables, fruits, meats and grains that have nourished our bodies throughout the spring and summer months. A time to continue the harvest and prep for the winter months that will soon arrive.

On this Happy, Blessed Mabon let’s feast and gives thanks to Mother Earth, the sun, the rain, the wind, the bees and birds for the blessings and gifts they have bestowed upon each of us.

My Celebration

There are many ways to celebrate Mabon. Today’s Mabon celebration here at the cabin will be myself and my husband. We prefer our own private celebration in honor of all that we have received.  Later in the month we will share autumn celebration’s with family and friends.

Our celebration will consist of enjoying the fruits of our labor. As I type, I have dinner, a roast and root vegetables slow cooking in a Dutch oven, later cornbread will be made from the gritted grains of corn grown in the garden and sweet fried apple pies are already made and sit cooling on the counter. Can you smell the magick aroma that fills the cabin?

After dinner we will relax in front of a bonfire and contemplate our blessings, our successes, our prosperity and all the love that fills our cabin not only this blessed day but each and every day.

Happy, Blessed Mabon to each of you.
